Street(Play)
Over the years, the institution of theater has become insular, as programs separate themselves from their local context and fail at meaningfully engaging with the broader community, only serving a small, relatively homogeneous group of people. By dissolving the non-literal barrier of entry that often surrounds theatres, Street(Play) proposes an alternative theater program. One that draws equal inspiration from the ability of the urban streetscape to facilitate pedestrian traffic, while also hosting a variety of activity, and also the capacity for community theatre to create a nurturing environment for the production and consumption of locally organized live performance.
